New Year’s Eve on the couch Is where I’ve filled myself with doubt Another new year thrown away With that Christmas tree today The neighbour asked if I was alone While just staring at her phone I don’t pretend she heard me say I’ve been like that since Christmas day Floating here above this ghost town. I struck a chord, that struck a nerve Like a rock star whisperer With a new warped sense of time Like a movie scene for crying I hope we meet some other day Before this new year slips away When hardened hearts aren’t what they seem You were the measure of my dreams And those are claims that I now choke down Until this new year proves me wrong.

about

With New Year's Eve falling on a Saturday, I thought it was fitting to close out 2022 with another Saturday Night/Sunday Morning combo.

Here are two versions of 'New Year's Eve On The Couch', good for both ringing in the new year and that slow descent into your couch with the realization that it is, in fact, Sunday morning, Jan 1, 2023.

The reflective lyrics hang in the air nicely this time of year referencing regrets, playing guitar, cleaning up and out, optimism, rock stars, fleeting time, cheesy movies and Shane MacGowan.

Thanks again for all your support this year and for giving me the confidence to share these songs.
I don't always have it.

Wishing you all health and happiness in 2023.
As my old pals in the Trapt used to say, "Keep your engine clean".

See you on the other side.
