Do You Remember: Saturday Night

from Do You Remember? EP by Chris Page

/

about

Sometimes you stumble on old cassette tapes from a long gone answering machine and find one that has an old crush playing mandolin, making up songs for you, having paid long distance charges like the feelings were somehow mutual.

I was never sure.

lyrics

It hurt my head that
Turntable by her bed
An ill intentioned satellite.
Who thought of who and played some Husker Du
And slowly turned up 8 Miles High?
It’s kind of amazing what I remember.

Across the bay, I would wait all day
For a foggy mind to settle in
In your kitchen I, stabbed my heart and hoped to die
With the sounds of your taped mandolin
It’s kind of amazing what I remember
Oh it’s kind of amazing

When only broken parts remain
There in corners of my brain
Cause like a fool
I held my breath for you

With rusted vans, firmly in your plans
By greasy spoons and greasy chins
You were like a dark walk late at night
When the beauty’s a lot to take in
Oh it’s kind of amazing what I remember.
